Itinerary Upstream

DAY 1 : BAGAN - SHWE PYI THAR

The cast off time is at 12.00 noon (check-in 11.30 hrs). We cruise upstream all day. Lunch will be served at 13.00. In the early evening we stop at Shwe Pyi Thar village for a walk. Moor overnight at midriver.

DAY 2 : YANDABO

Arrive Yandabo, a picturesque village that specializes in Pot-Making, where the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese war signed on Feb. 24, 1826. We go ashore for a walk through the village stopping to some pot-making workshops to learn their unique production technique, the school and the monastery. Back to the ship and cast off. We continue upstream to the ancient city of Ava, capital of the Burmese Kingdom from 1364 to 1841.

DAY 3 : AVA

We explore Ava by horse-cart visiting the beautiful 200 year old teak Bagaya Kyaung Monastery, Nanmyin watchtower (27mt. high) and the Me Nu Ok Kyaung monastery. Back to the ship for lunch and proceed upstream. Moor overnight nearby a river village North of Mandalay.

DAY 4 : KYAUK MYAUNG - MINGUN

Visit the spectacular potteries-making village of Kyauk Myaung, and see the manufacture stages of the famous 50 Gallons (200 Litres) pots (1.5 hours visit). Cruise back downstream to Mingun. In early evening, visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world and the “home for the aged”. Dance and Theatre performance on the Sundeck.

DAY 5 : MANDALAY

Disembark at Gawein Jetty between 08.30 to 09.00 hrs.

Itinerary Downstream

DAY 1 : MANDALAY

Board the Ship at Gawein Jetty (11.30-12.00 hrs), welcome cocktail and lunch. Sail upstream (ETD 12.30/13.00) and moor overnight at a river village North of Mandalay.

DAY 2 : KYAUK MYAUNG - MINGUN

Visit the spectacular potteries-making village of Kyauk Myaung, and see the manufacture stages of the famous 50 Gallons (200 Litres) pots (1.5 hours visit). Cruise back downstream to Mingun (Eta 14.00 hrs). At early evening, visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world and the “home for the aged”. Dance and Theatre performance on the Sundeck.

DAY 3 : AVA - YANDABO

We travel by coach to the ancient city of Ava, capital of the Burmese Kingdom from 1364 to 1841. We explore the ruins by horse cart visiting the beautiful 200 year’s old Bagaya Kyaung teak Monastery, Nanmyin watchtower (27mt. high) and the Me Nu Ok Kyaung monastery. Return to the ship and cast off. Stop at Yandabo, a picturesque river village specializing in Pot-Making, where the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese war signed on Feb. 24, 1826. Explore the village stopping to some pot-making workshops to learn their unique production technique, the school and the monastery. Continue sailing until late night. Moor overnight at midriver.

DAY 4 : BAGAN

Disembark at Aye Yar Jetty in Bagan by 09.00 hrs.

RIVER CONDITIONS WARNING

The Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers are subject to seasonal rises and falls of water level.

In the case of water levels being too high or low an alternative itinerary will be offered to Passenger.
